Schrader’s paintings are insistent; dominant physicalness, dynamic gestures, fierce movements. Even in rest poses, the figures are intensively present, with vigorously shaped body parts next to expressive image parts.
Schrader sympathizes with the weary thrown-out-of-life heroes. He draws them unobtrusively and without polemic; the refusal of the world, the pervasive preoccupation with the self and the inevitable evasion into the fringe areas of life.
